The largest UK network of part-time performing arts schools for 4-18 year olds
Stagecoach Theatre Arts is a highly regarded network of performing arts schools with a proven record of delivering quality dance, drama and singing lessons to youngsters worldwide. Over the years Stagecoach has provided a springboard for some of the UK's leading young talent and has had the privilege of watching thousands of kids grow in confidence and ability.
They first opened our doors in 1988 when Stagecoach founders Stephanie Manuel and David Sprigg launched three schools in Richmond, Redhill and Woking. Their formula of teaching small classes of children an hour of dance, an hour of singing and an hour of drama on a weekly basis was an instant success. Today they continue to build on those foundations. They have a thriving network of more than 320 fun and friendly franchised performing arts schools at safe and convenient locations in the UK, and a growing presence in ten other countries.
They offer kids’ parties, children’s holiday activities involving musical theatre and drama workshops, and they have their own talent agency for children and young performers.
Their goal is to inspire and enrich young people through the performing arts and introduce them to new opportunities in a happy, safe and secure environment. Suitable for ALL abilities, Stagecoach offers the chance for kids to pursue a career in the arts or simply just to learn some new skills to share with friends and family.
Stagecoach Theatre Arts Schools offers children and teenagers, aged from 4 to 18, the opportunity to learn three skills, Dance, Drama and Singing, taught by specialist teachers. There are three classes divided according to age and each class spends an hour on each discipline. Students gain confidence, self-esteem and learn to express themselves creatively. These benefits, acquired while learning the skills of performance (in our dedicated singing, dance and drama classes) don't disappear when the children come off stage. Schools run during term-time - run for 36 weeks of the academic year - but outside school hours and each school performs for parents twice a year. Students are taught by teachers, not franchisees.
There are three types of classes:
Main Stages: For 6-18 year olds. Weekly classes last for 3 hours with an hour spent on each discipline of Dance, Singing and Drama. Classes are grouped into similar ages and rotate through the disciplines.
Further Stages: Weekly 2-3 hour classes for advanced students aged 14 or above.
Early Stages: Weekly 90 minute classes for 4 to 6 year olds with one dedicated teacher to lead all three disciplines.
They offer twice-yearly performances in front of parents, fantastic skills workshops and lots of hugely exciting events. These may include performances in the West End, holiday workshops and ventures run with partners such as RADA and Disney.
A Stagecoach franchise offers you the opportunity to run part-time Theatre Arts schools at weekends during the academic year, training children in Drama, Dance and Singing. You will be the school’s Principal, responsible for the safety, care and creative learning of your students. You will employ professionals to teach an hour of acting, an hour of singing and an hour of dance at weekends throughout the academic year. As the Principal you will need to attend every Stagecoach session. You will start with a school that caters for 54 students aged 6 to 18, and 18 students aged between 4 and 6. You will receive a comprehensive training package and all of the necessary support, software, manuals and systems to help you run your business efficiently and professionally.

BRITISH FRANCHISE ASSOCIATION
In 1977, the major franchise companies in the UK decided to set up their own association. The British Franchise Association (bfa), was formed to act in the interests of the industry as a whole in assessing and accrediting franchising companies as those which meet its criteria for the structure of the franchise business, the terms of the contract between franchisor and franchisee, the testing of the system and its success as a franchise.
On this site, we only feature franchisors who are either:
Full Members of the bfa
Full Members are established franchised businesses with a proven trading and franchising record. They are prepared to have their reputation examined by the bfa, and have an established network of franchisees.
or
Associate Members of the bfa
Associate Members have proven their ability to launch and support at least one franchised outlet for 12 months and are now in the business of building their network. There will be few franchisees whose experience you can research and a short period of time over which the business has been tested.
