Relationship led non medical care for older people
Home Instead Senior Care is a leading home care company. They place their clients’ needs at the heart of everything they do and form a bespoke service tailored around what the client really wants.
They seek to deliver the highest quality domiciliary care to enable senior citizens to remain living independently in their homes, safe and well and with an admirable and fulfilling quality of life.
The Home Instead approach is the cumulative effect of doing everything that they do in the unique way that they do it:
CAREGivers are matched to each client based on background, interests, hobbies, and culture.
A CAREGiver and client introduction takes place to ensure there is never a stranger turning up at the doorstep.
The duration of care is a minimum of one hour and often longer, to allow the CAREGiver time to provide a care service that never feels rushed to the client.
Maintaining continuity of CAREGiver to client, so that the relationship is nurtured, and a strong bond, familiarity and trust develops.
The care is always person focused, not task focused.
Recruiting a specific type of CAREGiver who genuinely has empathy for the elderly. They go through extensive training and are highly valued.
They are recognised as the benchmark of quality care by industry professionals and peers in the care industry.
They have an impressive award-winning success story.
Home Instead Senior Care was founded in the UK in 2005 by husband and wife team, Trevor and Sam Brocklebank. The inspiration for the business came from Trevor’s personal experience of needing to find a quality care solution for his grandfather. The lack of choice and quality frustrated Trevor and his family. They were looking for someone to visit for a few hours a day to provide help with cleaning and cooking and all-important companionship. They realised that such care wasn’t available and the seed of an idea for a business start-up was planted.
Being successful entrepreneurs, Trevor and Sam knew there was a gap in the market for a quality home care provider with a difference and soon identified a franchise model that was already well established overseas that represented a perfect solution. On hearing of the opportunity to establish the franchise here in the UK, Trevor and Sam began their journey to make quality at-home care an available reality over here.
Basic Information:
Skills and knowledge required
They are looking for the right people to help them achieve their mission to become the UK’s most admired care company through changing the face of ageing. Franchise owners who want to run a successful business, but who also want to make a difference in their local community at the same time.
You do not have to have any care experience whatsoever to run a Home Instead franchise but this is a people business, so therefore you need to possess excellent people skills, as well as business acumen, balanced with a real desire to want to help the elderly remain living in their own homes for as long as possible.
It’s hugely rewarding but it is also hard work! You will need a strong work ethic, ambition and a positive outlook on life. The ability to manage people well, together with a passion about delivering a quality service and the ability to oversee the running of a busy, growing and profitable business are the key attributes of their most successful owners.
A qualified team of staff will be assisting you to oversee the care operations as well as recruit, train and help with retention of your CAREGivers. Their outstanding support, development and incentive initiatives will help you, not only to make a difference to the lives of older people in their own homes, but to start up and run a successful, rewarding and profitable franchise operation.
Franchise fee
Typical Start-up Cost: £90,000-£110,000. Minimum Personal Investment: £30,000 (30%). This includes a £39,500 +VAT franchise fee and the typical working capital required to reach the point of break even. This is different in every case so they work on the averages across the network to ensure you have plenty of funding available to help you achieve your profitable business goals.
Their franchise owners achieve very solid levels of growth. Month 18 is considered to be the typical breakeven point after which they expect you to be achieving net margins of 15% – 20%. Many of their franchisees are turning over £1 million pounds, and their global experience tells them the business can grow well in excess of this.
A Home Instead Senior Care franchise is the complete opposite of a get rich quick scheme. It is about building relationships with key referral partners in your territory. Because of the way they develop their business, revenue grows very organically. Through word of mouth news spreads out of their outstanding quality of service, but it does takes time to build relationships in the territory.

BRITISH FRANCHISE ASSOCIATION
In 1977, the major franchise companies in the UK decided to set up their own association. The British Franchise Association (bfa), was formed to act in the interests of the industry as a whole in assessing and accrediting franchising companies as those which meet its criteria for the structure of the franchise business, the terms of the contract between franchisor and franchisee, the testing of the system and its success as a franchise.
On this site, we only feature franchisors who are either:
Full Members of the bfa
Full Members are established franchised businesses with a proven trading and franchising record. They are prepared to have their reputation examined by the bfa, and have an established network of franchisees.
or
Associate Members of the bfa
Associate Members have proven their ability to launch and support at least one franchised outlet for 12 months and are now in the business of building their network. There will be few franchisees whose experience you can research and a short period of time over which the business has been tested.
