THE LITTLE GYM
bfa Associate Member
Serious Fun. Using gymnastics with children aged 4 months to 12 years to have fun, take on new challenges, increase self-confidence and self-esteem
The Little Gym® programmes are designed to introduce a child to physical activity in a fun and nurturing environment. The gymnastics based curriculum will help increase their flexibility, balance and coordination while also improving listening skills, attention span and the ability to follow instructions. The child will become more confident, more willing to take prudent risks, and be challenged in completely new ways. With each new achievement, self-confidence and self-esteem will increase.
Best of all, the child will take what they learn at The Little Gym® back home with them, into the playground and playing field, and into the classroom. Tried and tested skills that will give them a big headstart in life.
The Little Gym® has been developing children's motor skills for more than 30 years. In the mid-1970s, the concept was developed by founder, Robin Wes. Robin envisioned a nurturing place where children could grow - physically, intellectually, emotionally and socially. He didn’t believe that physical education should be taught in a competitive environment. Instead, he imagined an environment filled with the spirit to achieve instead of the pressure to win.
In 1992, franchising started in the USA and in 1999 in Europe. Since these early days, they have developed an expanded curriculum, with each class building on the lessons learned in the previous ones. Children learn step-by-step. In a safe, nurturing and non-competitive environment, they can progress at their own pace. Under the supervision of the trained instructors, they learn to take on new challenges, overcome their fears, and express themselves confidently. And they have fun doing it.
Basic Information:
Skills and knowledge required
Franchisees have enjoyed successful careers across a broad range of sectors from accountancy and law to teaching, banking, the army and IT; however, there are people who have joined us as instructors and gone on to become successful franchisees. A typical franchisee has a strong career track record and is looking for a new challenge. Something that will allow them to move away from the inflexibility and long hours of the corporate world, yet give the opportunity for continued professional success.
You should have a passion for working with people and children and evidence of strong transferable skills that you can apply to running your own business. You should want to become your own boss and be in control of your own destiny. You need to be prepared to work extremely hard.

BRITISH FRANCHISE ASSOCIATION
In 1977, the major franchise companies in the UK decided to set up their own association. The British Franchise Association (bfa), was formed to act in the interests of the industry as a whole in assessing and accrediting franchising companies as those which meet its criteria for the structure of the franchise business, the terms of the contract between franchisor and franchisee, the testing of the system and its success as a franchise.
On this site, we only feature franchisors who are either:
Full Members of the bfa
Full Members are established franchised businesses with a proven trading and franchising record. They are prepared to have their reputation examined by the bfa, and have an established network of franchisees.
or
Associate Members of the bfa
Associate Members have proven their ability to launch and support at least one franchised outlet for 12 months and are now in the business of building their network. There will be few franchisees whose experience you can research and a short period of time over which the business has been tested.
