Ed's Garden Maintenance provides professional and efficient garden services with a local and personal touch
Jobs can either be large or small. They also offer a regular fixed price all year around service. Services offered (depending on skill of franchisee) are:
Lawn mowing - using franchisee's equipment
Hedge cutting
Garden tidy ups
Turfing
Jet washing - drives, walls, patios, garden furniture, etc.
Ed’s Operators can choose to offer additional services depending on having the requisite knowledge, experience and/or qualifications. Additional services may include fencing, paving, tree removal, lawn treatment or other garden related jobs.
Ed’s Garden Maintenance was founded by Edward Mauleverer in January 2003. Within a short time, Ed’s business was profitable and had more customers than it could handle. So Edward decided to share his business approach with others and let them share in his growing success. There are now over 35 current Operators, growing their own successful garden maintenance businesses across the UK.
Ed’s Garden Maintenance Operators deliver prompt, reliable and professional garden maintenance services to all their customers. Most of the work is for residential households and is a mixture of one-off jobs to be done as soon as possible and regularly scheduled, repeat business.

Skills and knowledge required
A certain level of physical fitness is needed to undertake this work, and in-depth practical training is provided on how to deliver the core services.
Above all, the right attitude is the most important attribute to have. You must be prepared to deliver a high level of customer service, professionalism and reliability.
Ed’s provides the framework and support network to Operators to help them set up and grow their own successful businesses. Ed’s provides guidance and on-going support to its Operators through training, regular meetings, marketing and advanced computer systems. Everything is designed to make running your own business as easy as possible, so you can concentrate on growing your customer base and enjoy in your success.
Ed’s is unusual in that it offers an Initial Work Guarantee for new Operators. Under this system you are guaranteed enough work to provide you with instant revenue from the day you start.
Franchise fee
The initial franchise fee is £15,000 + VAT.
You will need to also purchase a vehicle and equipment. Ed's custom trailers are a low cost option designed to make delivering the services easy. All you need is to put a tow hook on the back of you car and be comfortable driving with a trailer. If you purchase a van you will need a high top so you can stand in it.

The British Franchise Association (bfa), was formed to act in the interests of the industry as a whole in assessing and accrediting franchising companies as those which meet its criteria for the structure of the franchise business, the terms of the contract between franchisor and franchisee, the testing of the system and its success as a franchise.

Full Members are established franchised businesses with a proven trading and franchising record. They are prepared to have their reputation examined by the bfa, and have an established network of franchisees.

Associate Members of the bfa
Associate Members have proven their ability to launch and support at least one franchised outlet for 12 months and are now in the business of building their network. There will be few franchisees whose experience you can research and a short period of time over which the business has been tested.
